Helpful hints for parents from caregivers

Just as Janet Davis* was getting four-year-old Jordan out the daycare door, Gwen*, the caregiver for his age group, ran down the stairs and handed him a warm oatmeal cookie wrapped in a napkin. Smiling, she said to Davis, "We made these together, and I know he's on tenterhooks waiting for them to come out." Although Jordan was thrilled, all the way home Davis fumed. "Imagine, giving him a cookie right before supper," she muttered repeatedly to her husband as they turned into their driveway.
